While The Moldova Project’s primary focus remains on vulnerable families and children in rural Moldova, we could not stand aside in the face of the war in Ukraine. Since the onset of the conflict in 2022, we have mobilized our team, resources, and experience to support refugee families — mostly women and children — who arrived in Moldova in search of safety and dignity.
Our Refugee Response Program has provided immediate, essential support including food packages, hygiene products, clothing, and baby supplies. Recognizing the emotional toll of forced displacement, we also offered psychological counseling to help both children and adults process trauma, anxiety, and uncertainty.
In addition to material and emotional support, we collaborated with local institutions and other NGOs to help refugee families integrate into Moldovan communities. Children participated in playroom activities, non-formal education sessions, and therapeutic programs alongside Moldovan children, fostering inclusion and emotional healing.
Although the war was not part of our original mission, the values that guide our work — solidarity, humanity, and dignity — made this response an essential extension of what we believe in. By welcoming refugee families into our programs, we reaffirmed our commitment to protect the most vulnerable, no matter where they come from.
When families rise, communities grow stronger. Help us turn vulnerability into strength — one child, one home, one future at a time.
